§ 4-81. Expiration and renewal.

Latest version.
  • (a)

All licenses shall be issued on a calendar year basis and shall be renewable as a matter of course upon payment of the appropriate fee, on or before December 15 of each year. If a license is not renewed by December 31, it shall lapse and an application for new license shall be required and, in addition, no sale or service of alcoholic beverages shall be permitted until a new license is issued.

    (b)

Nonrenewal. Any activity which constitutes probable cause for not renewing a license shall be referred to the city clerk or his designee for consideration. The city clerk or his designee shall afford the licensee a public hearing in front of the city council and mayor after at least seven days' notice has been provided to the licensee. The same criteria and qualifications for issuance of the initial license shall serve as the guideline for renewing the license. In addition, grounds set forth under section 6-52 for revocation or suspension of a license shall be grounds for nonrenewal of a license. The mayor and city council shall then grant, or deny for cause, the renewal of any license.
