§ 12-187. Permit required.

  • (a)

    Each pawnbroker or dealer doing business within the city shall be required to obtain from the city clerk an occupational tax certificate for a fee as described in the city fee schedule regardless of the number pf employees.

    (b)

    Municipal authorities may license pawnbrokers, define their powers and privileges by ordinance, impose taxes upon them, revoke their licenses, and exercise such general supervision as will ensure fair dealing between the pawnbroker and his customers.

    (c)

    The fee for an employee background check shall be as set forth in the schedule of fees and charges on file in the office of the city clerk.

    (d)

    Permits granted under this section are not transferable.
